The event was live streamed from Brussels with close to 300 participants connected! The future building blocks: How digital platforms will help deliver the EU Green goals was divided into 4 main sessions:

- A recap of the DigiPLACE project & its main outcome

- Putting the power of digital at work for the EU Green Deal

- How to fit into the DigiPLACE RAF

- After DigiPLACE: the EU support for the digital transition

Starting with the opening speech by Maive Rute, the Deputy Director General at European Commission DG GROW, and closing remarks by Joao Neves, Secretary of State & Deputy Minister for Economy of Portugal, the conference hosted many interesting speakers (for the full programme, visit digiplaceproject.eu/events). Participants were welcomed also by the project’s communication coordinator, CECE Secretary-General Riccardo Viaggi. Riccardo presented the final DigiPLACE 2021 Booklet and invited participants to join the DigiPLACE Community of Stakeholders.

The first session titled A recap of the DigiPLACE project & its main outcome introduced the main objectives, general overview of the project, and the DigiPLACE Reference Architecture Framework (RAF) featuring Alberto Pavan from Politecnico di Milano and Nicolas Naville from CSTB.

The second session of the day presented the discussion on the digital technologies contributing to delivering the EU Green Deal goals. The discussion was animated by Prof. Žiga Turk from the University of Ljubljana, Eugenio Quintieri, EBC General Secretary, Clemence Arto from Autodesk, and Daniel Mes from the Cabinet of Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans.

The afternoon started with interesting practical examples of other digital platforms. This block hosted Jaan Saar from the Estonian Ministry of Economy, Souheil Soubra from EU BIM Task Group, Jakob Beetz from Aachen University, Paul Surin from IBM OpenBuilt Initiative and Claudio Mirarchi, presenting the BIMRel platform.

The last session of the day addressed the future perspectives in digital transition. Starting with the DigiPLACE Strategic Roadmap presented by Sara Angotti from the French Ministry of Ecology Transition, and Cinzia Gatto from the Italian Ministry of Sustainable infrastructure and mobility, the block continued with the panel debate discussing the role of the industry in leading the transition and the possible support by policy and R&D funding.

We would like to thank all of you who joined us either at the panel discussion or in the auditorium! We hope you enjoyed the fruitful discussions, live polls, Q&A, networking and the day with us.
